CARREER

Philippe Bonvin is a Partner at BRH Partners LLC. He practices law as an attorney and is registered as a practicing Advocate in Geneva and in Switzerland and is a member of the Geneva Bar. He practises and advises clients in the fields of commercial, banking, and financial law with a special emphasis on investment funds law, regulations, and Regulator practice.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduated from the law Faculty of the University of Lausanne in 1973.
  • Admitted to the Geneva Bar in 1976.
  • Joined the law firm of Me Jean-Jacques Magnin in Geneva as an Associate in the same year.
  • Joined WW Finance SA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Financière Crédit Suisse-First Boston, in Geneva in 1980 as legal advisor and Deputy Manager.
  • Joined the Gulf Group of Companies as legal advisor of a financial company of the group, Gulf Credit in Geneva, in 1983.
  • Joined the Law Firm of Pirenne Python Schifferli Peter & Partners in Geneva in 1985, first as a senior Associate then as, of 1990, as a Partner specialising in investment banking, project financings, export and trade financings, syndications, aircraft financings, etc.
  • Joined the Law Firm of Budin & Partners in Geneva in 1996 specialising in commercial, banking, investment fund and financial law.
  • In 2015 founded, as one of four Partners, the law firm of BRH Partners LLC in Geneva.

EXPERIENCE (INVESTMENT FUNDS)

  • Registration of foreign investment funds with FINMA and follow up thereof;
  • Advising clients on Distribution Agreements and on other legal issues relating to investment funds registered for distribution in Switzerland.
  • Liaising with clients’ Swiss Representatives and Paying Agents.
  • Advising on private Equity Funds in various offshore jurisdictions.

OTHER EXPERIENCE

  • Legal advice in relation to anti-money laundering and sanction related issues; 
  • Legal Advice in the fields of commercial, banking, and financial law.
